Science Olympiad

Science Olympiad is nationwide competition with tournaments taking place at the local, state and national levels.   Students compete in 23 events that include earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering. Science Olympiad is designed to increase a student’s interest in STEM fields and provide recognition for outstanding achievement in team events. Students compete in Science Olympiad with the top teams advancing from Regional to State to National levels.

The 2019 Sacramento Regional Science Olympiad was held on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Mira Loma High School.  Twenty-three B Division (middle school) teams competed and thirty-three C Division (high school) teams competed.  
The results are:

B Division:

1st place:   Winston Churchill MS-A

2nd place:  Winston Churchill MS-B

3rd place:  WInston Churchill MS-C

4th place:  Pomolita MS-A

5th place:  Smedberg MS

6th place:  Rolling Hills MS-A

C Division: 

1st place:  Mira Loma HS-A

2nd place: Sheldon HS

3rd place:  Pleasant Grove HS-A

4th place:  Mira Loma HS-B

5th place:  Ukiah HS

6th place:  Laguna Creek HS-A

The NorCal State Science Olympiad will be held on April 6, 2019 at CSU, Stanislaus in Turlock, CA.  Churchill, Pomolita, Smedberg and Rolling Hills will compete in the NorCal  B Division competition.  Mira Loma, Sheldon, Pleasant Grove and Ukiah will compete in the NorCal C Division competition.   

(Please note:  only one team from each school is allowed to compete in the NorCal State Science Olympiad.)
